About My Shop
My latest work in like a mini thematic art show that elegantly erupted from a blender. I create most of the pieces you see here with a pair of hot pink fiskar scissors I've had since middle school. Using a variety of papers, boards and upcycled materials I intricately cut each piece by hand with my trusty scissors to add texture and form allowing the sculptures to take shape naturally with the curves and bends infused by the scissors themselves. I then create work with my cut pieces through a variety of display including hanging and bottled work among others.
I do hold a BA in sculpture & printmaking (as well as mathematics) and a few of my pieces fuse these disciplines together. I create site specific and much larger works than you see here as well and would be happy to speak with you further about custom designing pieces for you and your space.
My sculpture explores the fragmentation of time and the command of space through layers of perception and discovery. Each piece may have it's own theme, look, inspiration or purpose. These are often inspired by the exploration of form and process but may incorporate materials, natural, narrative or mathematical inspiration as well.
Specifically inspired by the beauty in tiny mishaps and searching for a kind of pretty you haven't seen before, I, like most, have been creating since I could hold a crayon.
Drawn to installation since I first entrapped my room in purple yarn at age 5, I find home at ends of the spectrum continuing to create space commanding, site specific work that mesmerizes and intrigues as well as constantly creating portable work that often fits in the palm of your hand.
Currently TinyMishaps accepts payment through paypal which means you can use your paypal account or most major credit cards with or without a paypal account.
Note that if you use your checking account to pay with paypal it is considered an 'e-check' and can take 2 weeks for the payments to clear. This will delay shipping of your order.
Payment is expected at the time of purchase and items will ship only after payment clearing. Check shop announcement for any specific shipping delays.
Illinois residents or those shipping to IL addresses will also need to pay Illinois sales tax of 8.25% (this should be automatically added during checkout).
Note to international buyers: Please check on your local law and customs regulations before purchase. Buyers are responsible for any customs, tariffs, taxes and fees , etc. that may apply and are advised to look into their country's regulations before purchase. Please only purchase items allowed by your country or local area.
I ship items as swiftly as I can. Typically this is within 3 weekdays or payment clearing. Items will not ship until they have been paid in full and payment has cleared.
Some of my sculptures require special shipping considerations, packaging and a trip to the post office or UPS store. These needs may require particular planning and could cause shipping to take a little longer in some cases.
In most cases (with in the US) , items shipped via USPS will receive an email directly from paypal with shipping information including tracking or delivery confirmation number. For items shipped by other means, such as UPS, I will try to send a message with the tracking number and shipped date.
Within the continental US, most hanging sculptures ship UPS (insured) or priority mail. Occasionally they might ship parcel post. If you are able to ship to a business address, it is appreciated by UPS. If you want to be sure you have insurance, let me know.
If you have any questions or concerns about the shipping of your item, let me know. However, there is no need to message immediately after purchase. The system will automatically alert me to the sale so I may make the needed arrangements. You should be able to include any needed notes in your message to seller.
I'll be happy to ship to a gift recipient, just be sure their address in the shipping address you have in paypal and make a note to me that it is a gift so I don't include the receipt. If you would like a note added, just let me know. Most gift recipients like to know where their items came from.
Custom work will take longer to ship because it must be made first.
If you have a particular shipping need, please send me a message to let me know and we will see how we can work it out. In some cases there may be additional shipping costs to accommodate particularly fast shipping.
International shipping can be tricky and quite expensive with larger items. If you don't see int'l shipping on an item you want, convo me and we will see what arrangements can be made.
Customs, duties and taxes are always the responsibility of the buyer. I will fill out all customs forms with the correct information as is required by law. I will not mark a purchase as a gift as it is a federal crime to do so.
International buyers: please check your local regulations on prohibited items and customs before purchase. You can find the list of prohibited items for your location by clicking your country from the USPS list found here- http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/immctry.htm Note that USPS only considers 'jewelry' to be fine jewelry. Most of my jewelry will count as fashion jewelry.
Original one of a kind and art items are not elligible for returns. I do my best to pack and ship items or have them professionally packed and shipped.
If you believe there was damaged cause in the shipping of your item, please take pictures immediately, including the outside of the box before it is opened, what it looks like as you open it and any details and send them to me along with your concerns. These will be required by UPS or USPS. You may want to contact your deliverer first as well. I do not assume responsibility for items once they are shipped but will be happy to work with you if there are any issues.
Items are generally nonreturnable unless the wrong item was clearly sent by mistake.
We have tried our very best to show our items as completely as possible. Please view every picture, read the description and ask questions to obtain more information if necessary before purchasing an item so as to be as happy as possible with your purchase. If you feel you were mislead in purchasing an item or unhappy with it or have problems with the fit, contact me and I'll see what we can do.
Shipping charges will be nonrefundable and return shipping charges will also be the responsibility of the buyer, unless of course the wrong item was sent by mistake.
That said, we do want you to be happy with your purchase and are willing to work with you to make it right. Please note that any returned earrings will require $1 restocking fee ( $3 on sterling) since the earwires will need to be changed. In addition, all shipping and shipping related charges are typically the responsibility of the buyer and any refunds will be less shipping and a 5% restocking fee to cover seller incurred expenses.
Due to the small nature of this business, in general, any refunds will be issued in the form of store credit that must be used as an exchange at the time of return. If you are unhappy with your item, consider exchanging it for another in the shop.
If you are thinking about a return or exchange please contact me via convo as soon as possible after receiving your item, within a week is expected.
Custom work- Given the specialized nature of custom orders they are generally nonreturnable and full refunds for custom work are generally not offered once the purchase has been made since custom sets and pieces often require specific materials and time.
In general, refunds will not be given for shipping errors if an incorrect or incomplete shipping address was provided, or error, loss or damage that occurred during the shipping process caused by the delivery service or the buyer.
Repairs may be available at a cost to the buyer + all shipping costs incurred. (Think, oops my dog chewed up my necklace, can you put it back together please?)
Custom orders welcome :)
